At Active Explorers Early Learning Centre Grenada we believe in having an exciting, child-led environment where we trust in children to be initiators, explorers and self-learners. We provide an environment that is cognitively challenging and emotionally nurturing; as stated in the Pikler and Gerber philosophy that we are governed by.
Our daycare centre is a purpose-built facility in Grenada Village based just outside Wellington, strongly influenced by the natural environment where we encourage children to feed our worms and plant our gardens with food. We are well-resourced for children of all ages to reach their potential in our various indoor and outdoor areas.
We are proud of our high teacher to child ratio which means we can provide each child with the attention and support they need. Our parents love our ‘Ready for School’ programme which prepares the children for their next step into big school.
He aha te mea nui o te Ao (what is most precious in the world)
Ngā tamariki, ngā tamariki, ngā tamariki (it is children, children, children)
The Education Review Office (ERO) is the New Zealand government department that evaluates and reports on the education and care of students in schools and early childhood services. ERO’s reports are used by parents, teachers, early childhood education managers, school principals and trustees, and by government policy makers.
Early childhood services are reviewed on average once every three years. Reviews will be more frequent where the performance of a school or centre is poor and there are risks to the education and safety of the students, or less frequent where a school has a stable reporting history and demonstrates good self-review processes and use of its assessment information. You can read our centre’s ERO review here.
