our story

Active Explorers Farnborough was purpose built and opened in December 1999. The teachers and children have been able to watch the community being built around the centre. We are very lucky to have a wetlands reserve just 100 metres down the road. Our community is very multicultural and we are privileged to be able to celebrate lots of different cultural events with our families. We have 4 staff that have been working over 10 years at Active Explorers with another 3 staff that are coming up to celebrating 10 years with Active Explorers. Our staff are highly experienced and qualified. We are offering a nature based learning programme for our children to experience.

ERO Report

The Education Review Office (ERO) is the New Zealand government department that evaluates and reports on the education and care of students in schools and early childhood services. ERO’s reports are used by parents, teachers, early childhood education managers, school principals and trustees, and by government policy makers.

Early childhood services are reviewed on average once every three years. Reviews will be more frequent where the performance of a school or centre is poor and there are risks to the education and safety of the students, or less frequent where a school has a stable reporting history and demonstrates good self-review processes and use of its assessment information.

You can read our centre’s ERO review here.

  • It is with great sadness and anxiety that we wish to confirm the last day of the children. Thank you for your support love and friendship over the last 3 years. We have come to see you as family, minding our little ones and sharing stories. The care and nurturing you have all provided has ensured that both children felt safe and happy to be with you during our absences. We will miss our daily chats and guidance as much as the children will miss you all. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, we will always have wonderful memories of Paddingtons and the amazing teachers.

    The Clark Family

  • Thank you for having the ability to be able to break into and understand this little man of ours, as it never happened in 2 other places. He went from crying and screaming fits, to wanting to go. Thanks again

    Jacob’s Dad

  • Our family would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for giving Jordan the very best in preschool education and care we could of only dreamed of. Your teaching, patience, warmth and guidance changed Jordan from shy, timid and quiet to outgoing and confident in her on abilities. If here school years are filled with skilled and warm teachers as yourself, we would be very lucky parents.
