Active Explorers Victoria visits a Marae

Some of the children and teachers from Te Puawai tots room at Active Explorers Victoria visited Te Hotu Manawa o Rangitane Marae.

They were greeted by local Kaumatua, Whaea Kararaina, Matua Nick and Matua Shane.  Te Puawai tots were called onto the Marae with a karanga, they held hands walking in unity to the entrance of the whare.  Taking their shoes off they entered the whare and sat down for karakia and mihimihi. The children shared their pepeha with the kaumatua and together sang waiata. Then together the group had some morning tea, which a tikanga that breaks the tapu of Te Puawai tots as visitors and unites the group.
