Our Rooms

Active Explorers Broadway has three separate rooms, enabling us to deliver age appropriate experiences for children at each different age and stage.


Kakapo Room

Our infant room has a lovely open learning space, including a safe area for our littlest explorers.  Our dedicated teachers are passionate about providing an environment that reflects each child’s individual needs and work closely with whānau to create partnerships that enable this. The room has the added advantage of connecting through sliding doors to the Kiwi room, where our toddlers hang out.  This enables lovely joint learning experiences to be easily created.  The outdoor area features a much-loved sandpit and climbing equipment that can be altered to meet and extend exploration.

Kiwi Room

This is our toddler room, the perfect place for our toddlers to test out their growing independence.  Toddlers are action packed and this room reflects this with an environment that changes to meet current interests and planning.  Teachers are in tune with the individual needs of their children and work closely with whanau to extend exploration and learning. There’s always a quiet place, when little legs get tired, with books and a cosy sofa inviting exploration. This room has the added advantage of connecting, through sliding door, to the Kakapo room, where our infants hang out.  This allows lovely joint learning experiences and means that transition from the infant into the toddler room is seamless and set at the child’s pace.

Tui Room

This is our ‘big kids’ room and here you can see children being supported to ask questions, set goals, take on greater leadership, and work cooperatively.  This room is set out to encourage choice making and set challenges.  Teachers are motivated to give and get the best from all their children working in partnership with whanau to understand what is important for each family.  Learning is fun, and hugs are important at any age. The Tui room operates a Rising 5’s programme insuring the transition to school is positive for the whole whanau, continuing to build on the foundation skills that are supported throughout the centre.
