Active Explorers Richmond recently celebrated Matariki. One of their whanau offered to put down a hāngi for the celebration and the families came to the center in the evening to share the hāngi kai and the variety of foods they had brought along. 

The children, having prepared weeks in advance, showed their families the wonderful stars and lanterns they had made to celebrate Matariki. They also showed them the wall display of Te Rā, Papatūānuku, and Ranginui. They ended their celebrations by exploring the night sky with glow sticks.
